Lasers in Dental Surgery
Especially when performing surgical operations in the area of the well blood-supplied oral mucosa, it is possible to make the operation less bleeding and less traumatic by using a laser.
Application fields
Possible areas of application are the removal of small tumors and modifications of the oral mucosa. Further possible applications are:
- Abscess incision,
- Wisdom tooth extrication,
- Root end removal (RER) or
- Tooth uncovering.
Lasers in Implantology
Implants are becoming more and more popular. After all, only few people are blessed with healthy and regular teeth for many decades. However, an open smile and a carefree laugh are more important than ever today: Beautiful teeth make people look attractive - an impression that is also supported by commercials and television. In case of one or several missing teeth, implants are increasingly used - and with them lasers too.
Laser in prosthetic care
In prosthetic care, a well elaborated and designed implant system offers the dentist a mulititude of possibilities to anchor constructions on the uncovered implant. By laser assisted uncovering of implants, the subsequent prosthetic care of the patient can be accelerated with a supra construction (crowns, bridges).
Laser in case of imflammations
In case of inflammations in the implant area, germ accumulations can be significantly reduced using laser-assisted treatment.
Lasers in Periodontology
In periodontology, laser operations are often more pain-free and bloodless compared to conventional treatments. The laser allows the removal of the imflammated tissue as well as to reduce pathogens in the area of the periodontium.
Periodontal treatment necessary
In addition to a laser treatment in periodontology, however, the consequent observance and implementation of proven measures against periodontitis such as improved oral hygiene, removal of dental plaque or proper dental care is of great importance.
Laser in Endodontics
Endodontic treatments (treatments of the root canal) are carried out in the following situations:
- deep caries,
- injuries that have caused nerves to die off,
- inflammations of the root tips (apical periodontitis).
- before prosthetic care, when there is only little hard tooth matter left.
Treatment
The aim of an entodontic treatment is to obtain a bacteria-proof closure of the tooth at "top and bottom", that is at the root tip and towards the oral cavity. In case of strong germ accumulation in the root canals of teeth with dead nerves, the laser often even allows to care for teeth that are otherwise hard to treat.
